What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a form of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical issues including back pain, arthritis, hip pain and migraines. Osteopaths identify, treat and prevent health problems by manipulating, stretching and soft massaging a patient’s muscles and joints.

Osteopathy is derived from the concept that an individual’s overall wellbeing is based on their bones, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

Osteopaths will use their hands to physically manoeuvre a patient, whilst performing stretching and massaging techniques that support the patient with mobility of their joints, enhancing blood supply to tissues, relieving muscle tension and helping the body
to heal.

What To Expect When You Visit An Osteopath
During the examination at our Epsom clinic you may be requested to remove loose fitting clothing, to allow us to best assess your issues.   If you do not feel comfortable with this, we can work with you and/or provide a private room for you to change into tighter fitting clothing more suitable for the Osteopath to effectively examine you.

You are welcome to bring a chaperone if it would make you feel more comfortable.

Please just let us know, we will always endeavour to work with you.
